“The highlight of my recent,
brief visit to Scotland.”

Don’t be surprised if you see strange goings-on in the Land Sea and Islands Centre after the doors have closed for the day. It’s a popular place for small community events and meetings of all kinds, and a great location for crafts and workshops.

Over the years we have held a variety of talks and presentations, many of them with a natural history theme. They are always lively events, well-illustrated and full of fascinating information. So watch this page for all the latest forthcoming events of all types, and come along!

We welcome enquiries from community groups and individuals. Drop in or send us an email if you would like to use the Centre for an event or you have any queries about our facilities. We have disabled access, a car park and accessible toilets.

24 – 26 May 2019

We’re very much looking forward to being part of this year’s exciting Arisaig Americana Festival, taking place this holiday weekend! The Land, Sea & Islands Centre is one of the instrumental workshop venues, and on Saturday, it will be ringing to the sounds of Bluegrass music (mandolin and banjo) and Clawhammer banjo. You can see an image from one of last year’s LSIC workshops above. Booking for the workshops is essential. See the full Festival programme here

In the words of the Festival’s energetic organisers, ” . . . It’ll be a roll, it’ll be a blast – Arisaig style – and we look forward to seeing you!”

Current events

The Exhibition, which is running at the Arisaig Land, Sea and Islands Centre, commemorates the lives of Arisaig people who served in the first World War.  Stunning portraits of Arisaig men and women gaze out, reminding us of their youth, and the ordeals they were to face.

Macdonald, Campbell, MacEachen, Gillies, MacVarish, and many more familiar Arisaig names feature prominently here – the unique Arisaig and South Morar Record of Service, which has been the main source for the remarkable photographs, is littered with these names.

Military and genealogy records, family history and local knowledge have all provided background information, and helped bring colour and substance to the stories of people long gone.

Come and spend a little time here, there is much to remember – and to learn.  The exhibition will run until May 2019, and we are currently open 7 days a week (See bottom of page for opening times). Do drop in and enjoy the exhibition.
